Expanding services for Sydney's south

Hurstville Private Hospital - Development Application approved by the State Government’s Department of Planning for a $32.2 million development which is due for completion mid 2015.

The state-of-the-art design incorporates the very latest facilities and technology and includes an increase in the number of hospital beds from 54 to 96. The plans also include provision for an extension of the operating theatre complex, a new oncology service, more postnatal beds, a larger medical specialist consulting centre and a brand new patient accommodation building with support amenities including a dedicated visitors parking level.

The introduction of a new day oncology service will now mean those cancer patients requiring treatment following surgery can continue to be treated locally in familiar surroundings.

A brand new maternity unit will capitalise on the already popular service that is renowned for its warmth, professional care and longevity of service by experienced and dedicated staff. There will be 22 single rooms with most enjoying expansive mountain or city views, window day lounges, flat screen televisions and attractive, contemporary decor.

The original building façade on the Gloucester Rd entrance to the hospital will be maintained as part of the new plans. Disruption will be minimal and the hospital will remain fully operational throughout construction, as construction of the new patient accommodation building is at the rear of the hospital.

A range of procedures will be in place to help minimise disruption to patients, staff and the local community during the construction period, as we are committed to maintaining all patient services.

Hurstville Private Hospital is a leading centre for quality maternity and surgical services, and is also an affiliated teaching hospital with the University of New South Wales, Notre Dame and the University of Western Sydney.

The Hospital was acquired by Healthe Care, one of Australia’s largest private hospital operators, in April 2012. Hurstville Private Hospital was Healthe Care’s first metropolitan acquisition and the new owner immediately committed to investing in the hospital’s expansion and upgrade.
