TWO Hurstville Private Hospital nurses have been voted by their peers as the most deserving among the hospital's staff.

Renee Kruger, who works in the surgical ward, and the hospital's maternity ward midwife, Therese McNamara, are the winners.

This is the second year of the annual award, which was initiated by the hospital in conjunction with Georges River/Riverwood Rotary Club.

The aim of the award is to acknowledge nursing staff for their commitment to the profession by their achievements in delivery of exceptional care and by their unconditional support of their colleagues.

Sydney Prostate Cancer Centre LogoProstate cancer is the most common cancer in men and the second commonest cause of male cancer death. More recently with the widespread use of PSA testing, patients are diagnosed at an earlier and more curable stage and the focus of treatment has shifted from not only optimising the chance of cure but also of avoiding unpleasant side associated both with surgery and radiation.

We are the only truly multi-disciplinary centre in New South Wales offering patients a comprehensive assessment with the full range of treatment options available including nerve sparing & nerve grafting techniques, brachytherapy, High Intensity Focused Ultrasound(HIFU) and cryotherapy.

Many studies have shown that the optimal outcome is achieved in experienced units and we are pleased to be able to offer treatments at several centres of excellence including Miranda, Menai, Illawarra, North Sydney, Hurstville and Kogarah area where our experienced teams will achieve the best possible outcomes.
